HOW DOES DONATING FOOD WORK?
Well, when you buy a product from Provisions we donate money from our products directly to our food bank partners across the state. These food banks then purchase and provide meals to the people who need it.
WHO ARE OUR PARTNERS?
We partner with seven different food banks across the state which include: God’s Pantry, Dare to Care, Facing Hunger Food Bank, Feeding America: Kentucky's Heartland,Tri-State Food Bank, Freestore and PADD.
WHERE DO OUR PARTNERS RECEIVE THEIR FOOD/MONETARY DONATIONS FROM?
Sources of food for our Food Bank partners include the USDA, food manufacturers, local produce growers, community organizations and businesses.
HOW DOES THE FOOD GET DISTRIBUTED?
Once the food is purchased and arrives at their facilities, the staff and volunteers sort, repack and store it in their warehouses. Then food is distributed to a number of different locations, including food pantries, churches, soup kitchens, shelters and more.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIFICS TO HOW PROVISIONS DONATES?
Through the various partnerships with food distributors and government funding our food bank partners are able to purchase food at a low cost. For only .13 cents they are able to provide one meal to a person in need. See the figure below for specifics on how much we donate from our various products.
Accessories: $.13 per item Sold = 1 meal
Tees: $.38 per item sold = 3 Meals
Fleece: $.63 per item sold = 5 meals
OUR DONATION GOAL IS…
To provide 250,000 meals by the end of 2017!
IN THE END…
Kentucky families are fed and the Commonwealth is made better one meal at a time!
Based on our current business model these amounts give us long term sustainability and will allow us to continue helping more Kentuckians in the future. However, we hope to work towards donating a higher percentage of the profit per product as we grow.
